Poems

“An angel opened up the book of life
And wrote down our (Baby’s name here) name
Then she whispered as she closed the book
Too beautiful for this earth”
Your presence we miss
Your memory we treasure
Loving you always
Forgetting you never.
A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam
And for a brief moment its glory
and beauty belong to our world
But then it flies again
And though we wish it could have stayed
We feel lucky to have seen it
I fought a good fight,
Until God told me to, “Rest.
Let your soul shine bright,
With no worries or stress.
I’m bringing you home;
You have family here,
To wait for those others
That you hold so dear.”
I gave him a nod,
And shut my eyes,
I lifted my head
Then flew to the skies.
“They call me ‘The Butterfly'”,
I laughed to the sun,
As I soared with your love
That can’t be undone.
So don’t weep at my grave,
For I am not there,
I have a date with the butterflies,
To dance in the air.
I’ll be singing in the sunshine,
My soul soaring free,
Playing tag with the wind,
While I’m waiting for thee.”
A butterfly to remind us
Even though we are apart
Your spirit is always with us
Forever is our heart’s
It’s not the words we write
Or even what we say,
It’s how we think of you,
Each and every day,
If tears could build a stairway
And hurt make a lane,
We would crawl on our hands and knees
To have you back again
The little one we long for
Was swiftly here and gone
But the love that was then planted
Is a light that still shines on.
And though our arms are empty,
Our hearts know what to do.
Every beating of our hearts
Says that we love you.
I’ll always be your mother,
He’ll always be your dad.
You will always be our child,
The child that we had.
But now you’re gone… but yet you’re here
We’ll sense you everywhere.
You are our sorrow and our joy,
There’s love in every tear.
Just know our love goes deep and strong
We’ll forget you never
The child we had, but never had
And yet will have forever.
Don’t cry for me please don’t be sad
Hold on to the memories of the times we had
Don’t dwell on dark thoughts hold on tight to your wishes
Sending you hugs and butterfly kisses
I walk beside you I am there all day long
I am right here but you think I am gone
You don’t see me but I can see you
What ever the problems I will help get you through
I am the wind in your hair the sand in your toes
Butterfly kisses that you feel on your nose
I am with you at sunrise and in sunset
But you can’t see me is my one regret
I sit right beside you when you are sad
As you look through the photos of times we had
Hold on to your dreams and all your wishes
Sending you hugs and butterfly kisses
When I am gone, release me, let me go.
I have so many things to see and do.
You mustn’t tie yourself to me with tears,
Be happy that we had so many years.
I gave you my love, you can only guess
How much you gave to me in happiness.
I thank you for the love you have shown
But now it’s time I travel on alone.
So grieve awhile for me, if grieve you must
Then let your grief be comforted by trust.
It’s only for a little while that we must part,
So bless the memories within your heart.
I won’t be far away, for life goes on.
So if you need me, call and I will come.
Though you can’t see or touch me,I’ll be near.
And if you listen with your heart you’ll hear
All of my love around you soft and dear.
And then, when you must come this way alone
I’ll greet you with a smile and
“Welcome Home.”
As you release this Butterfly in honour of me,
Know that I’m with you and will always be.
Hold a hand, say a prayer,
Close your eyes and see me there.
Although you may feel a bit torn apart,
please know that I’ll be forever in your heart.
Now fly away Butterfly as high as you can go
I’m right there with you more than you know.
Little Snowdrop
The world may never notice
If a Snowdrop doesn’t bloom,
Or even pause to wonder
If the petals fall too soon.
But every life that ever forms,
Or even comes to be,
Touches the world in some small way
For all eternity.
The little one we long for
Was swiftly here and gone
But the love that was then planted
Is a light that still shines on.
And though our arms are empty,
Our hearts know what to do.
Every beating of our hearts
Says that we love you.
O precious, tiny, sweet little one
You will always be to me.
So perfect, pure and innocent
Just as you were meant to be.
We dreamed of you and of your life
And all that it would be.
We waited and longed for you to come.
And join our family.
We never had the chance to play,
To laugh, to rock, to wiggle.
We long to hold you, touch you now
And listen to you giggle.
“When a butterfly brushes gently by me
So carefully and free
I will know it’s you assuring me
You’re always here with me”
The world may never notice
If a Snowdrop doesn’t bloom,
Or even pause to wonder
If the petals fall too soon.
But every life that ever forms,
Or even comes to be,
Touches the world in some small way
For all eternity.
